Maple Glazed Applesauce Donuts (Egg Free)

I hope you are all enjoying Donut Week as much as I am, I have loved reading all the comments on  each donut that I have made.  I had some ask what kind of donut maker do I have, THIS is the one I have, excellent kitchen gadget addition.  To me its better than baking because you dont have to turn on your oven, just plug in and in 2 minutes it hot and ready for you to add your batter, its that easy!

Today's donut is Egg Free I know some people out there might love the recipes but cant eat them because they have an egg allergy, I received this recipe from Transatlantic Blonde her baby boy has  an egg allergy, so she has recipes that are egg free.  I tweaked the recipe a little to go along with my healthy ingredients, my kiddies said this was the best donut they ever had, so thank you Transatlantic Blonde make sure you check out her blog for more egg free desserts!

Ingredients

1/2 cup light brown sugar
4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
Generous sprinkle ground nutmeg
1/2 cup fat free milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup applesauce

Directions

Mix dry ingredients and set aside.  Mix milk, applesauce, butter and light brown sugar add dry ingredients to it and mix well.  Grease the donut rings, and fill each donut ring with 2 tbsp full of batter and close down and bake for 4 minutes.  Take out and let cool on wire rack.

Maple Glaze

1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
1/2 tsp maple extract
2 tbsp fat free milk

Mix all ingredients together, you may need to add more milk for consistency.  Dip donuts halfway in glaze and place on wire rack and allow glaze to set.

  4. My son also has an egg allergy, so I need to add these to my list of things to make! Just discovered Transatlantic Blonde recently. I don't have a donut maker (I don't need it to be so easy to make donuts!) but I do have a donut pan :-)

  20. Here's a random thought...does a donut HAVE to be shaped like a donut? I wonder if a waffle iron wouldn't work just fine. It's a little unconventional, but isn't it just like a donut maker with a different shape? Lot's of people are saying they don't have a donut maker, but maybe thay could make due with a waffle iron. Might want to cut them into smaller pieces... or not.
