Bloglovin' Blog Hop

~I am Co-Hosting June Bloglovin' Blog Hop along with many wonderful blogs, come and join us~

If you're looking for Whimsy Wednesdays you can find it here.

Photobucket

I am super excited to be hosting a Bloglovin' Blog Hop with Cari and Courtnee from Two Sasters, Amy from While Wearing Heels, Melissa from The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife, Pamela from Pamela's Heavenly Treats, Barb from Second Chance to Dream, Sarah from Becoming Martha, Elle from The Princess Diaries and Carolyn from My Simple Messterpiece for the month of June.
What's Bloglovin' you ask?  Well, only the greatest way to keep track of the blogs that you love.  With the discontinuation of Google Friends Connect, I decided that I needed to find another way to keep up with all of my favorite blogs that are not hosted by blogger.  I signed up for Linky Followers and I've had great success with gaining new followers, but I’m finding I don’t get any traffic to my site from Linky.  I also do not enjoy reading my favorite blogs from there.  I stumbled upon Bloglovin' and I am in love!  It is very similar to Google Reader, in that you can see the beginning of the post and the first picture attached to the post.  Plus, Bloglovin' automatically updates your posts, unlike Linky Followers, which you have to manually update each time you write a new post.  I don't know about you, but I just don't have the time to do that every time.  Another added bonus is there is a Bloglovin' application for IPhone and Android devices.  Woohoo!  Like I don't spend enough time reading blogs.  Now it's a simple touch.  Love it!

***These are the complete instructions for sign up, so skip to the rules if you already have Bloglovin'***
In order to participate in this hop you need to sign up for Bloglovin’.  Go to Bloglovin'.   Hit the green sign up button in the right hand corner.  Next enter an email address and create your password.  You will get a confirmation eamil that you will need to follow a link back to Bloglovin' to continue the process.  Once you click on the link you will be brought to a page where it says to choose blogs to follow.  You don't need to do this.  Click next in the bottom right hand corner.  The next screen let’s you know about the mobile app so just click next again.  This screen will show that you are not following any blogs.  Click on Account in the upper right hand corner and toggle down to widget.  Choose the widget you want displayed on your page.  Put your url into the search query and it should pull up your site.  Click on your site and it will say display this icon.  The next page should bring you to a screen that has you display it into your layout.   Once you hit publish you’re done!  If you view your blog you should see the icon and now your followers can add you to their Bloglovin’ feed.  Seriously, so simple.  So let’s get to the blog hop.  This is a party so make sure to have some fun and mingle.

There’s only a couple of rules:
2.      Add Bloglovin' to your blog.
3.      Post our button for the blog hop on your page to promote the fun.

If you're interested in co-hosting next month shoot me an email at russej10@gmail.com.  I also have some sponsor spots still available for July, which you can find here.  Alright, so let's have some fun and mingle!

Whole Wheat Delicious Brownies

Now if you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that brownies are not my friend.  I just cant seem to make them correctly, but I do now! Thanks to one of my lovelies Mar at Raising Bean her brownies looked so good,  I had to attempt to find a way to incorporate my healthy ingredients and then for them to come out kind of good.  Well I really outdone myself this time, they came out PERFECT.  The entire pan was gone but 4, and I wrapped them up for my snack for the next 2 days!  I have to sometimes hide my healthy heavenly treats from my little taste testers or there would be nothing left.

Ingredients

1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 and grease an 8x8 baking pan. Combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt in a small mixing bowl. Then start to melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. When your butter is all melted, add the light brown sugar to the saucepan. Cook for about 3 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Remove the pan from heat, and stir in the cocoa powder until everything is blended well. Do the same with the flour mixture. Next put the mixture in your mixing bowl and add the eggs in. Mix on high for about 2 minutes.  Spread the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes.

ENJOY!

Book Review: Hope Springs

:Litfuse

Hope Springs by Kim Cash Tate

In a small community where everyone is holding tight to something, the biggest challenge may be learning to let go.

Hope Springs, North Carolina, is the epitome of small town life-a place filled with quiet streets, a place where there's not a lot of change. Until three women suddenly find themselves planted there for a season.

Janelle hasn't gone back to Hope Springs for family reunions since losing her husband. But when she arrives for Christmas and learns that her grandmother is gravely ill, she decides to extend the stay. It isn't long before she runs into her first love, and feelings that have been dormant for more than a decade are reawakened.

Becca is finally on the trajectory she's longed for. Having been in the ministry trenches for years, she's been recruited as the newest speaker of a large Christian women's conference. But her husband feels called to become the pastor of his late father's church in Hope Springs.

And Stephanie has the ideal life-married to a doctor in St. Louis with absolutely nothing she has to do. When her cousin Janelle volunteers to stay in Hope Springs and care for their grandmother, she feels strangely compelled to do the same. It's a decision that will forever change her.

As these women come together, they soon recognize that healing is needed in their hearts, their families, and their churches. God's plan for them in Hope Springs-is bigger than they ever imagined.

My Review

~I loved this book, once I had it in my hand I couldn't put it down, it had so much truth to it about love for God, forgiveness and love for each other. This book really showed the characters struggles, weaknesses, and growth.
The characters were so real to me while I was reading the book, and it made it easy to identify with their struggles and flaws.

I loved that the book let us know  that all Christians are united in Christ, no matter the color of their skin, was wonderful to me, because that's how it should be. Other important topics were forgiveness, faithfulness in marriage even when your spouse is unfaithful to you, love, and acceptance.

This book is going  around in my woman's circle, because we all need a novel that is full of truth and clearly reveals the Godly relationships that can exist between woman.

~I received this novel for free from Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for an honest review.

Chocolate Goodness Cupcakes (Whole Wheat)

it doesn't get no better than that. We made these for the teachers end of the year gift.  This is a very simple recipe, if you follow it; you will have a heavenly healthy treat.  My kiddies said that the frosting tasted like ice cream!  We really outdid ourselves on this one, if I must say so myself.

2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup fresh buttermilk
(2 tsp white vinegar and 1 cup of fat free milk)
2 fresh eggs
1 tsp white vinegar
1 1/2 cup canola oil or applesauce
(I prefer canola oil)
1/4 cup dutch cocoa

Set oven to 350

Mix wet ingredients, and then add sifted dry ingredients until well blended. Fill cupcake tins 1/2 way, and bake for 18 minutes, once done cool on wire rack.

Whipped Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting

2 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter (softened)
3 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp fat free milk
1/3 cup dutch cocoa

Cream butter, add powdered sugar, vanilla, cocoa, milk (add a little dabble at a time, you want to be able to pipe the frosting). Now to make it whipped buttercream you have to put your mixer on high speed for about 3 minutes, place frosting in your piping bag and frost your cupcakes.

Featured Lovely ~ The Fontenot Four

My name is Sarah.  I am the one behind The Fontenot Four!  I am in love with God, my husband {Ron}, and my girls {Moira and Peyton}.  I am a stay a home mom of two girls (8 and 6), the younger of whom is special needs and is medically fragile.  I started The Fontenot Four as an outlet for me to write about the blessings in my life.  The good stuff.  Nothing negative.  I figured if I focused on the positive for a change, it might really help me work through life's challenges.  I decided somewhere along the way that I could really use my blog to help people.  I love to blog about the blessings in my life, my faith, the occasional book review, recipes from time to time, musings about my family, and so on.  I also have a scripture print shop on Storenvy!
